Pretty terrible experience, wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Check in is ridiculously late to begin with being 4pm, after driving 5 hours from Calais to get here we arrived at 4:30pm and was told our room still wasn't even ready, considering check out is 11am not sure why it would not be ready by such a late hour. Required a deposit as all hotels do but do not accept american express for this which is again ridiculous, this deposit also took 4 days to return to my account which is far too long. We eventually got into our room 50 minutes after the check in time to find it was just a sofa bed, and some sheets piled onto a chair, considering the wait for the room to be 'ready' when you still have to fold out the sofa and make the bed yourself; what took so long? The last thing you want to do after a 5 hour drive is then have to make up your own bed, disgraceful that this isn't done for you. Then before you check out the instructions are to strip your bed and clean almost everything in the room. It is a hotel these things should be done for you. Do not stay here unless you basically have no other option it's basically a low budget hostel. Oh and parking is 10 euros per night not even included in your price. Park on the road and don't give these anymore money for basically no work.
I travelled to Saint-Malo for work. The company paid for the room in this hotel. The good impression about the hotel include the cleanliness of the room and the location, which is very close to the old town.
Bad impression:
The reception desk is not open 24/7. I arrived at the hotel at 3:30 PM and had to wait in the hotel lobby until check-in at 4:00 PM. You cannot just enter the lobby because the front door is locked and can only be opened with a code provided at check-in. I was lucky that one of the guests opened the door for me, so I waited in the lobby until check-in time. Although my room was paid for by the company, but I was asked for a 200-euro deposit at check-in, in case I damaged or broke something in the room. By the way, they promised to return the deposit immediately after check-out, but in the end, it was returned after two days when a representative from my company bombarded them with calls about the unreturned deposit. I was also informed that upon check-out, I would have to clean the kitchen in the room, remove the bed linens, and take out the trash. I would like to know what the money is being paid for if the guest has to do the work of the maids?
My room consisted of a small area with a table, chairs, and a kitchen, and a sofa bed. The main bed was a bunk bed and was right next to the entrance door to the room. The soundproofing in the rooms is also terrible; you can hear what the neighbours are talking about.
I strongly do not recommend this hotel unless you are looking for a very budget option.
