We have nothing to say but good things about our stay at this residence in March. The 6 person flat was exactly as described and perfectly equipped for a family of 5 (1 double bed, 2 twins, and the sofa bed). Sure, you could argue that having the sofa bed unfolded takes up ...some room (we left it open all week), but even then the flat was absolutely big enough for us all. The 2 bathrooms helped a lot, too. The residence was also extremely quiet considering how close it is from the slopes and the 'Ferme de Reberty' bar/restaurant. We were on the 1st floor, with a balcony, and couldn't hear a thing past 7pm. The cleanliness of the apartment was spot on (the first thing we checked after reading a few bad reviews!). The kitchen was perfectly equipped, the fridge big, the beds very comfy, the pillows nice (I was worried). The flat was warm and even had underfloor heating! The ski room was old-ish yes, but served a purpose & was very accessible. The staff at reception (in a building opposite) were very helpful, the swimming pool was indeed on the coldish side, however this absolutely didn't stop our kids playing in it for one hour on two occasions. I just logged watching them and was perfectly happy with that. The pool room is quite spectacular. The reception lobby is very comfortable too, and we sat there on a couple of occasions reading books. People even take drinks there, and toddlers have a play-pen they can play in, Location wise: it is simply UN-BEA-TA-BLE. Les Menuires is very much a kids-friendly resort to start with anyway. But Families with kids: do not hesitate. It is 50m from the slopes, 1min down-skiing from the first lifts, for both beginners and advanced skiers, taking you to the higher summits. The Ski Schools (the ESF or the others) meet their pupils just by the residence as well (The ESF have a lodge right there). It couldn't be easier. The bus stop (to go further down to La Croisette, where the main restaurants are) is also a 2 min walk away from the residence, for a ride every 20min. There is also an app showing you where the buses are.Be mindful that you may need to go down to La Croisette to collect your ski passes too. SkiSet (rentals) & The Sherpa ('Casino') supermarket are also a 1min walk away. Be weary of prices though: Altitude Food & drinks have gone through the roof in the last 24 months. To give you an idea, we went self catering with the intention of doing a mixture of dine in & out, sorting our breakfasts & lunches at home. And yes, we like a bit of wine & chocolate, but even then, we spent £1000 in a week between a few restaurants and the multiple supermarkets top-ups. And we are a frugal family, trust me! But be prepared to spend double what you spend at home on food. As for restaurants: account for 30 euros per head. It is simply incredibly hard to do cheaper than that (25 Eur burgers, 20 eur pizzas, 30 eur raclettes, 9 eur for a pint etc.). It can be eye-watering, and the days of eating out cheaply are well & truly behind us. So LOAD up on food & booze in excess & in the valley beforehand if you are travelling by car.
Now: would we go back to this location/apartment residence in particular?? 100%. The whole experience with Sunweb was flawless as well (very recommended too, if compared to the more expensive Crystal holidays), from the booking process, to the multiple notifications about flights or transfer services (in private, air con minibuses). Overall, an expensive yet fabulous holiday which the kids will remember all their life :)
