Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal. The city itself and it surroundings are definitely worth the journey ! With its colourful architecture, its picturesque neighbourhoods and cobbled streets, every district of Lisbon is a wonder: stroll through the Baixa district that opens on the Tagus river in Praça do Comercio, follow the river to discover Belem with its famous tower (in the middle of the river !) and the Jeronimos Monastery. If you want to enjoy a scenic view on the city, visit the ancient Sao Jorge Castle.
Lisbon also features some incredible museums: don’t forget to visit the Calouste Gulbekian Museum, a foundation with over 6,000 works of art. The Design Museum as well as the National Museum of Contemporary Art are also worth a visit.
Lisbon region apartments are also great to discover the wonders outside the city. As the rest of the country, the Lisbon region is definitely where to stay in Lisbon region if you enjoy golfing. In fact, the region was considered as Europe’s Best Golf Destination by IAGTO in 2003 and 2007.
Holiday lettings Lisbon region are also ideal to discover Cascais and Estoril. Located north of the city, the two town are among the top touristic places in Portugal since King Luis I chose the bay for his summer residence in the 19th century. The climate is quite mild and sunny and the coastline is incredibly scenic. It is also a great destination to enjoy a day by the beach. The area is also famous for its water sports.
Another one day trip from Lisbon is Sintra, the Moon Hill, a site granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The town, once the residence of the Portuguese aristocracy, is accessible by train from Lisbon. Many of those castles can be visited, like the colourful Pena Palace, the Palacio Nacional or the Moors Castle dating back to the 9th century.
